Cash on Delivery Tips for Online Grocery Orders in Pakistan
How to make Cash on Delivery (COD) grocery orders work smoothly in Pakistan — verifying the rider, checking items at the door, and what to do if something is wrong.

Cash on Delivery (COD) is still the most common payment method for online groceries in Pakistan — and for good reason. You see the order before you pay. Below are practical tips to make every COD order go smoothly.
Before the rider arrives
- Keep your phone unlocked. Most COD riders call from the gate or street; if you miss the call, the order may sit at the wrong address for 15–20 minutes.
- Have the cash ready in the rough denomination shown in your order confirmation. If the total is Rs 14,250, having Rs 14,300 or Rs 14,250 exact avoids the rider hunting for change for 10 minutes.
- If you are in an apartment, share the floor / unit number in the delivery instructions field at checkout — riders delivering to apartment blocks for the first time often waste time on the wrong floor.
At the door
- Confirm the order ID matches what you placed. A quick glance at your tracking page on the rider's phone takes 5 seconds.
- Open the bag(s) at the door and count line items. Spot checks beat full inventory at the gate — confirm the bigger items (atta bag, oil tin, rice) are correct and at least quickly scan smaller items.
- Check expiry dates on dairy, eggs, and any temperature- sensitive item before paying. Refusing one item at the door is much faster than opening a return later.
- Pay only after the rider has confirmed the cart total. The server-validated final total at checkout is what you pay — there should be no “last-minute” service charges.
If something is wrong
For damaged, expired, or wrong items, you can refuse delivery at the door (you pay only for what you accept). If you discover an issue after the rider leaves, message support on WhatsApp with photos and the order ID — see our returns policy for the full 7-day window.
